Mark Twain wrote Life on the Mississippi. Life on the Mississippi is about Mark Twain before he went by Mark Twain, when he went by Samuel Clemens. In the story Mark Twain is really the only main character. The book is about his travels down the mississippi.

In the begining of the book it is about him traveling down the mississippi when he is younger. It is about when he was a steamboat captain. It is all just about what he did when he back then. Then he stops being a captain. Then he comes back to the river later.

After 21 years Twain comes back to the river. He travels up the river from New Orleans to St. Louis. In New Orleans Twain meets aguy and that was where he got his pen name, Mark Twain. Then he traveled to his home town of Hannibal, Missouri. Then he continues his trip on to St. Louis.

In conclusion I don't really think that he changed that much through the story, he just really saw how much everything had changed since he had been there when he was younger.
